Cape Town Muslim neighbourhood pays tribute to Gaza

Artists in Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap Muslim neighbourhood are transforming their homes into a tribute to shared struggles and the quest for freedom in Palestine. The mural project, “Angels for Gaza,” was started by resident Obeidullah Gierdien in December 2023. Obeidullah’s mother, Ayesha Gierdien, says the murals serve as a reminder of the shared oppression between Palestinians and people of colour in South Africa.
