Kamel Hawwash: Birmingham's first Palestinian councillor

Kammel Hawwash, a former university professor-turned politician, recently became the first councillor of Palestinian origin in Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city. He is also the Deputy Leader of the Birmingham Green Party.

He spoke to The New Arab about how Palestine influenced his decision to enter politics and why he left the Labour Party to join the Green Party.
