Anas al-Sharif and Israel's war on Gaza's journalists

Anas Al Sharif would not let pro-Israel media distortion bury the truth. With every breath, he exposed the brutality of Israel’s genocide. 

When an IOF military spokesperson accused Anas of being a military operative, it was clear that Zionists were manufacturing consent for his killing. When Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in 2022, Israel denied responsibility and offered shifting accounts to evade accountability. 

Now, it names its targets in advance, deliberately attempting  to delegitimise them first. This is what impunity looks like: an occupation so confident in Western government protection, including from Britain, that it can openly claim its crimes.

Israel is now responsible for more journalist killings than any other state on earth. It continues to bar independent foreign journalists from Gaza while systematically targeting Palestinian journalists who remain steadfast on the ground. Those captured have reported beatings, starvation, medical neglect and sexual violence in Zionist prisons. 

The result is deliberate: fewer people able to report from the ground, and fewer able to witness war crimes.

Western media has fallen silent under the cover of the so-called ceasefire, even as Palestinian journalists are killed and detained, Israel continues bombing Gaza and Lebanon, and expands settlements in the West Bank.

In the absence of reporting, it is our responsibility to bring these crimes to light. In support of our people’s steadfastness and liberation, we must mobilise across British society, where mainstream media and government are complicit in the silencing and genocide of Gaza. 

In his final will and testament, Anas entrusted us with Palestine. He urged us not to let chains silence us or borders restrain us, but to become bridges towards liberation.

It is our duty in the diaspora to become voices of justice and never allow truth to be drowned out by Zionist noise.
