A session at Jordan's parliament descended into chaos on Wednesday after an angry lawmaker threw projectiles at a colleague during a heated argument.

As parliamentarian Mohammad al-Riyati accused judges of corruption, a furious Zeid al-Shawabkeh interrupted to defend the officials of the charges.

Taking offence to the interference, a third lawmaker Saddah al-Habashneh grabbed what appear to be bottles of water and flung them at Shawabkeh.

Shawabkeh charged at bald-headed Habashneh, who grabs a headband off a colleague's headdress and also hurls it at Shawabkeh.

The entire exchange was caught by video cameras recording the parliament session, which was temporarily suspended during the exchange.

The incident has been widely mocked on social media, with many users sharing an image of Habashneh throwing the headband (ogal) at the lawmaker - a highly aggressive move in Jordanian culture.

"The poor MP whose ogal was robbed is the perfect representation of the Jordanian people - all he wants is his headdress and to keep out of trouble," said one user.

Shawabkeh was involved in another heated clash in parliament in 2015.

He was also caught on camera attacking a waiter along with his brother the same year.
