American streamer Hasan Piker has denied using an electric shock collar on his pet dog, Kaya.

The accusation came after Kaya yelped as Piker appeared annoyed at her behaviour during a Twitch stream. The clip was posted across social media, where speculation about the streamer's use of a shock collar gained traction.

Social media users then dug up a previous stream, which they claim shows the dog wearing a shock collar. However, this footage is blurry and does not clearly show the collar's brand or model.

Piker responded to the accusations in another stream, showing the collar to his audience. He explained that the collar vibrates and has an Apple AirTag attached, which can be used to track pets.

Despite his denial, social media users have continued to speculate about the collar. Some have claimed it has removable prongs that can emit the electric shocks.

The accusation also inspired a number of memes, including an edited photo of Kaya being hit with a lightning bolt.

Piker is known for his Twitch livestreams in which he discusses politics, video games, and pop culture from a left-wing perspective. He frequently advocates for Palestinians on his digital platforms. The streamer's left-wing views and pro-Palestinian stance have made him a target of harassment from those on the right.

Kaya often appears in the background of Piker's streams, which has caused further accusations of animal cruelty. Some social media users have claimed that keeping the dog in one room for livestreams is unfair.

Previously, Piker co-hosted the podcast Leftovers with fellow streamer Ethan Klein, who is a supporter of Israel. The podcast ended after the pair fell out over their opposing views on the Israel-Palestine conflict following the 7 October attacks.

After the clips of Kaya went viral, Klein posted a screenshot from the stream on his Instagram story, accusing Piker of "horrifying animal cruelty."
