Trump continues Iran threats with at least 2,500 killed following weeks of protests

The Trump administration has been weighing up whether to conduct military strikes against Iran over its crackdown on protesters.

US President Donald Trump has continued issuing threats to Iran over its crackdown on anti-government protests that have rocked the country, as rights groups estimate that thousands have been killed.

Trump told CBS on Tuesday that there would be "very strong action" against Iran if it started hanging protesters, as has been threatened, while his administration weighs up military action against Tehran.

The US-based HRANA rights group estimates that at least 2,571 people have been killed in the protests, including 2,403 protesters, 147 government-affiliated individuals. 

Meanwhile, in Gaza, storms continue to batter the strip as it continues to suffer a dire humanitarian crisis brought about by Israel's war on coasal enclave.

Despite a ceasefire, Israel has continued its violations, killing one person in Khan Younis by live fire, according to The New Arab's Arabic language sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed. Meanwhile, the Israeli army said it killed six members of Hamas in a firefight in the southern city of Rafah.
