Both US and Iranian officials have confirmed that the two states have signed the memorandum of understanding, ending war between the two. The signing came after the US released the text of the agreement with Iran that seeks to bring an end to the US-Israeli war on Iran, following days of circulation in US and international media.

US President Donald Trump defended his deal with Iran during the G7 summit, telling reporters that he didn't want to see economic catastrophe: "So the one thing I didn't want to see is, I didn't want to see economic catastrophe. If you kept this going, that could have happened." He added that talks with Iran would be "signed shortly.

Iranian officials hailed the agreement with the US as a "diplomatic victory". For his part, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed any agreement with the US must include the release of frozen Iranian assets, sanctions relief and Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon.

Hezbollah in Lebanon also commented on the deal, with chief Niam Qassem hailing Iran's "great victory". "We congratulate the Iranian people, the resistance and the countries and peoples of the region and the world who yearn for independence and freedom on this great victory," he said.
