Anti-ICE and anti-war demonstrations are planned across the US this weekend, after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a woman in her car in Minneapolis.

Demonstrations for “ICE out for Good” will be held Saturday and Sunday in cities across the US, according the protest group Indivisible.

US citizen Renee Nicole Good was driving near her home Wednesday, reportedly after dropping off her six-year-old son off at kindergarten, when she was shot at least twice by an ICE agent.

According to video footage, Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, turned her vehicle away from ICE agents after they approached her car. One of them tried to open the door, and then a second agent with a gun joined, quickly firing shots into her car, before it veered into the side of a snowy road.

Good is one of dozens of people across the US who have died at the hands of ICE.

That night, cities and towns across the country held candlelight vigils in honour of Good, amid freezing winter conditions in some locations.

The coalition leading the weekend demonstrations includes Indivisible, MoveOn Civic Action, the American Civil Liberties Union, Voto Latino, United We Dream, 50501, and the Disappeared in America Campaign of the Not Above the Law coalition.

“The mobilization comes in response to the escalation of ICE violence in our communities, the killing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old wife and mother of three, and the months-long pattern of unchecked violence and abuse in marginalized communities across America,” reads a statement on Indivisible’s website.

“Across the country, communities will gather in nonviolent, lawful, and community-led actions to honor the life lost, demand accountability, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions,” it continues.

Meanwhile, multiple groups, including the Palestinian Youth Movement, have also planned demonstrations against US President Donald Trump’s repeated threats of a full takeover of Venezuela.
