  • Hezbollah and Israel have agreed to a partial cessation of hostilities in Lebanon, according to the Lebanese government and Donald Trump. The US-brokered agreement will see Hezbollah refrain from cross-border attacks in exchange for Israel not bombing Beirut. The Israeli military earlier issued a displacement order for the capital's southern suburbs ahead of an attack.

  • The agreement does not extend to the south of the country, where Israel has continued to launch airstrikes and forcibly displace civilians. A statement from the Lebanese embassy in the US said Monday's framework could be extended across the rest of the country.

  • The US intervention came after Iran threatened to undo the 8 April ceasefire if Israel continued to escalate its attacks on Lebanon. Iranian media said Tehran had suspended indirect talks with the US to end the war, while the Revolutionary Guards warned it could open "new fronts" if Israel continued its attacks.

  • Lebanese health authorities said that at least 3,433 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since 2 March while another 10,395 have been wounded.
