Intense Israeli strikes early on Tuesday have killed Palestinian actress Ibtisam Nassar as she was sheltering in a displacement camp located in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

The strike also killed her son and 13 other members of her extended family.

Nassar's husband and two sons were also previously killed in an earlier Israeli attack amid the indiscriminate and brutal onslaught on the enclave.

Known for her roles in several local TV dramas produced in the Gaza Strip, she was active on social media and much loved among the population.

In her last Facebook post on Monday, she wrote: "I don't ask who will return my husband, or my sons, or my home, my dreams, my memories.

"What we’ve lost, God will compensate us for with something better, God willing - with a paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth. We say only what pleases God."

More than 60 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday alone.

Since October 2023, when Israel launched its ongoing war on the besieged enclave, over 53,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 121,000 wounded, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

The cultural and artistic sectors in Gaza have also been devastated by the war.

According to a March report by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, 118 artists were killed in 2024, including 20 writers, 30 visual artists, 10 musicians, and 58 actors.

All 25 officially registered cultural centres in the Gaza Strip have been either partially or completely destroyed, alongside another 30 unregistered institutions.
