Israeli forces shoot dead Palestinian in West Bank village
Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian man on Tuesday during clashes in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA said that Mohammed Shaheen, 23, was killed by gunshot wound he sustained after Israeli forces opened fire at stone-throwing youths in Salfit, near Ramallah.
The report said the violence erupted as Israeli soldiers raided the village to take footage from surveillance cameras.
It added that medics treated 40 people in the village for rubber bullet wounds and tear gas inhalation.
An Israeli army spokesman told AFP: "Dozens of Palestinians took part in a violent riot, during which they hurled rocks at Israeli soldiers, who responded with riot dispersal means."
Earlier Tuesday, a Palestinian who ran at Israeli troops with a knife was shot dead in the southern West Bank flashpoint city of Hebron.
