Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man at the Balata refugee camp near Nablus in the northern West Bank on Friday, and confiscated his corpse, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The victim was identified as 39-year-old Mustafa Abu Layl.

The Palestinian Red Crescent also said that Israeli forces had detained an injured man before withdrawing from the camp. Israeli special forces, disguised as civilians, infiltrated the camp and surrounded a house there.

Gunshots were heard, and the PRC said that Israel prevented its forces from reaching the injured forces.

Palestinian media sources also said that earlier on, Israeli forces were targeted by an IED in eastern Nablus. They later stormed the east of Nablus, near Balata.

The current escalation in Nablus began on Thursday, after Israeli forces killed a young man in Beita south of the city.

He was identified as 29-year-old Shawkat Ahmed Khudeir and his funeral took place on Friday in the town.

An Israeli soldier was also seriously injured after an IED exploded near him in the area.

Also on Friday, Israel forced out residents of the Nur Shams camp near Tulkarm after they had come back to the camp to collect belongings. They threw gas and sound bombs to force the residents to flee.

Thousands of residents of the camp and the nearby Tulkarm camp have already been forced out by Israeli forces.

The Palestinian foreign ministry on Friday also warned that Israel had instituted a policy of “demolition and displacement”, warning that it was planning to demolish 106 homes in the Tulkarm and Nour Shams camp.
