A 20-year-old Palestinian man died from wounds sustained after being shot by Israeli forces during a military raid in the city of Jericho on Tuesday.

Mohammed Jalayta was critically injured during a violent Israeli incursion into the Palestinian neighbourhood in central Jericho, according to Palestinian health officials. The city has since declared a general strike in mourning of the dead.

The raid, which began just after midnight, involved Israeli troops firing live ammunition and sound bombs as they stormed homes.

Israeli forces also launched simultaneous incursions across several cities in the occupied West Bank, including Nablus, Tulkarm, Ramallah, Qalqilya, and Jenin.

In Nablus, four Palestinians were wounded by live and rubber-coated bullets, and 15 others suffered from tear gas inhalation.

Two men were arrested in Askar refugee camp, as Israeli troops expanded their deployment and carried out armed searches of local businesses and shops.

Further arrests were reported in Beit Ummar near Hebron, while Israeli troops raided cities including Jenin, al-Bireh, Hebron, Tubas, and Tulkarm, targeting money exchange offices and seizing cash.

Meanwhile, settler violence continued to escalate with Palestinian farmland near Ramallah set alight, part of a broader pattern of attacks that have included land seizures, destruction of crops, and livestock incursions.

A settler also erected a tent and raised an Israeli flag after occupying an olive grove in the area of Ayn al-Haramiyah. In Haris, northwest of Salfit, settlers torched farmland, destroying dozens of olive trees.

The Palestinian Authority's Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission documented 341 settler attacks on Palestinians and their property in April alone.

Since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023, violence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has surged. Over 960 Palestinians have been killed, nearly 7,000 injured, and more than 16,400 detained, according to official Palestinian figures.

The ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza, widely described as a genocide, has killed and wounded more than 176,000 people, the majority women and children, with over 11,000 still missing.
