Israeli forces intensified Gaza strikes, killing 41 since dawn, as Palestinians await Hamas’s response to US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan to end the nearly two-year genocidal war on the Palestinian enclave.

Earlier, Al Jazeera Arabic reported on Tuesday that the death toll in Gaza continues to rise, with Israeli forces firing at Palestinians seeking aid near the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza.

The outlet did not confirm whether the incident caused casualties.

This comes amid reports that Hamas’s negotiating team is reviewing the latest peace plan unveiled Monday by US President Donald Trump following talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Netanyahu publicly endorsed the proposal, which aims to end the Gaza war.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday gave Hamas an ultimatum of "three or four days" to respond to his plan to end the war in Gaza, as the group reviewed the proposal backed by Israel.

The plan calls for a ceasefire, the release of hostages by Hamas, the group’s disarmament, and a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

It also proposes the deployment of a "temporary international stabilisation force" and the creation of a transitional authority headed by Trump alongside other foreign leaders.

The framework stipulates that Hamas and other Palestinian factions would play no role in Gaza’s future governance. While Arab, Muslim and EU powers expressed support for the US-led initiative, some Palestinians criticised it as a "farce."

The Palestinian Authority (PA), however, welcomed Trump’s efforts to end the war, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Reebok wants logo removed from Israel football shirt

The New Arab Staff

Israel’s football federation has confirmed that Reebok requested its logo be removed from the national team’s kit.

"We regret that the international company Reebok has apparently decided to bow to embarrassing and completely irrelevant boycott threats," the Israel FA said on Tuesday.

Reebok did not immediately comment.

According to Israeli news outlet Ynet, the American company, which became the team’s kit sponsor last year, acted following threats from the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The Israel FA said it would take the logo off “for the time being” to avoid harming local suppliers but would continue using the shirts.

Israel has faced growing international isolation in areas such as sport, culture and science amid the war on Gaza. The national team is scheduled to play World Cup qualifiers in Norway on 11 October and Italy on 14 October.

Netanyahu refuses Gaza withdrawal hours after Trump meeting

Hours after joining Donald Trump to unveil a 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, Benjamin Netanyahu told Hebrew-speaking audiences he would not withdraw Israeli troops from the territory.

"No way, that’s not happening," he said in a video posted on his personal X account.

Netanyahu claimed Israel had outmanoeuvred Hamas by rallying Arab and Muslim states to pressure the group into accepting Israel’s conditions — the release of captives while Israeli forces remain in most of Gaza.

According to the Times of Israel, Netanyahu also pushed through key edits to Trump’s plan, slowing and limiting any troop withdrawal to ensure Israel retained control over large areas of the enclave.

Italy PM Meloni urges Gaza aid flotilla to 'stop now'

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday called on the international aid flotilla trying to deliver aid to Gaza to immediately stop their mission.

Insisting on a confrontation with Israel could upset the current "fragile balance" that could lead to peace based on the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, Meloni said.

"Many would be happy to disrupt" that plan, Meloni said in a statement.

"I fear that the flotilla's attempt to breach the Israeli naval blockade could provide a pretext for this. Also for this reason, I believe the Flotilla should stop now," she added.

Clashes erupted in the village of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, after large numbers of Israeli forces entered the area, according to Al Jazeera.

Troops fired tear gas at residents during the raid and stormed the home of Mahdi Mohammed Awad Dirieh, who was shot dead earlier in the day by Israeli fire after the army alleged he carried out a car-ramming attack.

Israeli snipers took up positions on the rooftops of surrounding residential buildings while soldiers interrogated members of Dirieh’s family.

Italy navy to quit Gaza flotilla amid risk of Israeli attack

Italy's navy will stop following the international flotilla trying to deliver aid to Gaza once it gets within 150 nautical miles (278 km) of the shore, the Italian defence ministry said on Tuesday.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, consisting of more than 40 civilian boats carrying parliamentarians, lawyers and activists including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, aims to break Israel's blockade of the Palestinian enclave.

Once the convoy reaches the 150 nautical miles limit, the Italian frigate accompanying it will stop, "as communicated several times in recent days," the ministry said in a statement.

The ship will issue two warnings to activists, with the second and final one foreseen at around 00:00 GMT, when the flotilla is expected to get within the stated distance, the statement added.

Earlier on Tuesday, an Italian spokeswoman for the flotilla, Maria Elena Delia, said that activists had been informed about the government's plans to have the navy ship stop and turn back to avoid "a diplomatic incident" with Israel.

She said the flotilla had no intention of heeding Italy's warnings not to get closer to the shore. Italy and Spain deployed navy vessels last week to assist the flotilla, after it was hit by drones armed with stun grenades and irritants in international waters off Greece, but without any intention to engage militarily.

Delia said activists were bracing for another strike in the coming hours. "Israel will probably attack us tonight, because all the signals point to this happening," she said in a video on Instagram.

Israel holds 16 of 40 Palestinians re-arrested post-truce

Israel has re-arrested dozens of Palestinians previously freed under previous Gaza truce deals, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), which accused Israeli authorities of escalating their campaign against former detainees.

The group said the most recent case was Hanan Barghouti, detained from her home in the village of Kobar near Ramallah earlier today.

PPS reported that at least 40 Palestinians released in January and February have since been re-arrested, with 16 still held- most under administrative detention, meaning without charge or trial.

The organisation described the arrests as part of a deliberate policy to keep released prisoners under constant threat, noting that some individuals have been detained and interrogated multiple times.

According to PPS, Israel has "institutionalised" these practices through military orders and legislation.

It added that releases under earlier truce agreements with Hamas were marred by "organised terror," including severe beatings before release and threats against families that continue today.

If Palestinian group Hamas reject US President Donald’s Trump Gaza peace plan Israel will "finish the job" and bring home all the remaining hostages, Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon said on Tuesday.

"If they reject the plan, Israel will finish the job, either the easy way or the hard way. Their return cannot wait. This is not only a road map to bring them back. It is also a plan to end the tyranny of terror that was unleashed on October 7," Danon told an event at the UN to mark the upcoming two-year anniversary of the Hamas attack.

Fatah backs US-led Gaza peace push but official rejects plan

Fatah, the Palestinian political faction leading the Palestinian Authority, has welcomed US-led efforts under President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and protect civilians, according to a statement reported by the official Wafa news agency.

The group said it is prepared to work with all parties to achieve a ceasefire, deliver humanitarian aid to the famine-hit enclave, secure the release of captives and Palestinian prisoners, and establish international mechanisms to safeguard Palestinians.

Fatah also demanded the release of frozen Palestinian tax revenues, a full Israeli withdrawal, and measures to restore unity across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and East Jerusalem as part of a two-state solution.

The movement expressed support for President Mahmoud Abbas’s pledge to pursue reforms, including holding presidential and parliamentary elections within a year of the war’s end.

However, senior Fatah figure Abbas Zaki strongly criticised the US proposal, describing it to local media as a “document of surrender” forced on Palestinians without their consent.

He warned that embracing such plans would deepen humiliation, legitimise occupation, and fracture Palestinian unity, accusing Washington and Israel of seeking to "liquidate the Palestinian cause."

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Hamas will face severe consequences if it does not accept within a few days his Gaza peace deal that calls for the disarmament of the Palestinian armed group.

"We have one signature that we need, and that signature will pay in hell if they don't sign. I hope they sign for their own good and create something really great," Trump told US generals and admirals in Quantico, Virginia.

He earlier told reporters he was giving Hamas "three or four days" to respond to the proposed deal.

Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency services said it received a report of a ramming attack near the Al-Khader junction near Bethlehem at 14:25 pm (1125 GMT).

"We quickly arrived at the scene with large forces and saw two teenagers who had been hit by a vehicle," MDA emergency medical technicians Eli Eisenbach and Daniel Elyakim said in a statement.

"A boy of about 15 was lying on the ground, semi-conscious, and the other was fully conscious," they said, adding that the teenagers were suffering from head and limb injuries.

"They were evacuated to hospitals for further care," the statement said.

News agency AFP, citing a Palestinian source close to Hamas, reported on Tuesday that the group is reviewing US President Donald Trump's proposal for ending the Gaza war, which is backed by the Israeli prime minister.

"Hamas has begun a series of consultations within its political and military leaderships, both inside Palestine and abroad," the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

"The movement is open to all proposals and will present a national response that represents both Hamas and the resistance factions.

"The discussions could take several days due to the difficulties for the leadership to communicate and move around, especially after the Israeli aggression in Doha," the source added.

Another Palestinian source also confirmed that Hamas was examining Trump's plan.

The Kremlin said on Tuesday that it hoped that US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan was implemented and would spur peace in the Middle East.

Trump secured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's backing on Monday for a U.S.-sponsored peace proposal to end a nearly two-year-old war in Gaza, but questions loomed over whether Hamas would accept the plan.

In a call with reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "Russia always supports and welcomes any efforts by Trump aimed at ending the tragedy that is currently unfolding."

He added: "And, of course, we want this plan to be implemented and for it to help bring events in the Middle East to a peaceful conclusion."

Russia has been critical of Israel's military operations in Gaza over the last two years amid a deepening alignment between Moscow and Israel's arch rival, Iran.

Moscow has long said that a two-state solution is the only way to settle the conflict in the Middle East.

Hamas had yet to respond Tuesday to Donald Trump on his plan for Gaza, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli military would stay in most of the territory after he gave the US president his backing.

The plan calls for a ceasefire, release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, disarmament of Hamas and gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, followed by a post-war transitional authority headed by Trump himself.

A senior Hamas official said Monday the group had not yet received the 20-point plan, but an official briefed on the matter later told AFP news agency that Qatari and Egyptian mediators had met with Hamas to provide them with the document.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egypt's intelligence chief Hassan Mahmoud Rashad "just met with Hamas negotiators and shared the 20-point plan. The Hamas negotiators said they would review it in good faith and provide a response," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

In a video statement posted on his Telegram channel after his joint press conference with Trump, Netanyahu said the military would stay in most of Gaza, and also said he did not agree to a Palestinian state during his talks with Trump.

"We will recover all our hostages, alive and well, while the (Israeli military) will remain in most of the Gaza Strip," he said.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah rejected Donald Trump’s proposed plan to end the Gaza war, calling it an extension of Israeli demands.

"What was announced at the press conference between Trump and Netanyahu is a US-Israeli agreement, which fully reflects Israel’s position and is a recipe for continued aggression against the Palestinian people," Nakhalah wrote on Telegram yesterday.

He argued that Israel was seeking to achieve through Washington what it had failed to secure militarily.

"We consider this American-Israeli declaration a recipe for destabilising the entire region," he added.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday praised Donald Trump's "efforts and leadership" to end the war in Gaza, after the U.S. leader secured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's support for a U.S.-sponsored peace proposal.

After talks between Trump and Netanyahu in Washington, the White House released a 20-point plan that would see an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas disarmament and a transitional government led by an international body.

It was unclear whether Hamas would accept the deal.

"I commend U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts and leadership aimed at halting the bloodshed in Gaza and achieving a ceasefire," said Erdogan, who met Trump at the White House for the first time in six years last week.

Turkey would continue to contribute to the process "with a view to establishing a just and lasting peace acceptable to all parties," he added on X.

Turkey has been one of the most vocal critics of Israel's two-year assault on Gaza, which it calls a "genocide". It has halted all trade with Israel, urged international action against Netanyahu and his government, and repeatedly called for a two-state solution.
