The Israeli military has announced its ongoing escalation in Gaza, which has already resulted in at least 436 Palestinians killed, aims to establish a "partial buffer" zone.
In a post on X, the military revealed that over the past 24 hours, its forces have launched a focused ground operation in central and southern Gaza to expand the security area and create a buffer between the north and south.
As part of this effort, Israeli forces regained control of the Netzarim Corridor, from which they had withdrawn in February under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
This comes as Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has announced plans to resume the evacuation of Palestinians from Gaza's "combat zones" as part of a stepped-up military offensive.
In a statement, Katz warned that Israel would intensify its actions if hostages held by Hamas are not released, saying the country will act with unprecedented force.
