A monitor of Syria's conflict said 16 civilians were killed Saturday when an airstrike, likely carried out by Damascus ally Russia, hit an area of the city of Aleppo recently captured by rebels.
"At least 16 civilians were killed and 20 others wounded" when "warplanes, likely Russian, targeted civilian vehicles" at a roundabout in the city of Aleppo, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, raising the overall toll in heavy fighting since Wednesday to 327.
Rebels have also seized Aleppo's civilian airport Saturday, the first time they have taken such a facility, along with key towns in Idlib and Hama provinces as they waged a dayslong offensive.
In Gaza, the strip's civil defence agency said three aid workers from World Central Kitchen were killed in an Israeli air strike in the territory on Saturday, but the Israeli army said it killed a "terrorist".
The Israeli army said it had "struck a vehicle with a terrorist that took part in the murderous October 7 massacre", referring to the 7 October attacks last year.
