Israel violations of the Gaza ceasefire continued on Saturday, striking eastern areas of several cities and refugee camps.

The Israeli military continued its violations of the October ceasefire agreement on Saturday, striking several areas in the Gaza Strip, while another Palestinian baby has succumbed to cold temperatures in the enclave.

Israeli forces shelled eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis overnight and throughout Saturday morning, while a Palestinian child was wounded after Israeli forces opened fire at the Halawa School in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, in parallel with the airstrikes.

Artillery shelling was also heard in Deir al-Balah and the al-Bureij refugee camp, as well as north of Rafah, in Gaza's south.

Since the ceasefire began on 10 October last year, Israeli forces have killed at least 463 Palestinians and injured hundreds more, while their near-daily attacks have amounted to over 1,200 violations.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian baby became the eighth infant to die from the severe cold that has impacted the enclave since the start of the winter season.

Ayesha al-Agha was just 27 days old when she passed away on Saturday.

This comes as US President Donald Trump has tapped former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as founding members of the Gaza "Board of Peace".

The board, which will be headed by Trump, has been criticised by Palestinians for its colonial undertone and lack of autonomy in post-war Gaza's governance.
