The Israeli army carried out air raids on Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, while bulldozers continued demolishing residential buildings despite a fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
According to multiple media outlets, including The New Arab’s Arabic-language sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Israeli forces conducted demolitions of homes east of Gaza City, as well as in Rafah and Khan Younis, late on Friday and into early Saturday morning.
The United Nations estimates that 92 percent of all residential buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed since Israel’s assault on the enclave began.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian armed group Islamic Jihad has handed over the body of a deceased captive as part of the ceasefire terms between Israel and Hamas.
Israel has identified the remains as those of Lior Rudaeff, who, according to the Israeli military, was killed during the Hamas-led 7 October 2023 attack on the southern Israeli kibbutz of Nir Yitzhak.
Hamas transferred Rudaeff’s body to the Red Cross late on Friday, after which it was passed to the Israeli military in Gaza.

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) on Saturday backed a motion to call on UEFA to ban Israel from European club and international competitions.
Dublin-based club Bohemians tabled the resolution saying Israel violated two provisions of the UEFA statutes.
The motion was carried by 74 votes to seven with two abstentions.
In a statement, the FAI said they will now "submit a formal motion to the UEFA executive committee requesting the immediate suspension of the Israel Football Association from UEFA competitions."
The two alleged breaches of UEFA statues refer to "organisation of clubs in illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank without the consent of the Palestinian Football Association" and the "failure of the IFA (Israel Football Association) to implement and enforce an effective anti-racism policy."
Israel's national and club teams compete in UEFA's competitions, but have largely played their home matches in neutral venues since the 7 October attacks in 2023 on security grounds.
A Palestinian man who was shot by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank succumbed to his wounds late on Saturday.
The man, identified as Abdelrahman Darwasha, died from his wounds after Israeli forces opened fire on him in the Far'a refugee camp, located south of the occupied West Bank city of Tubas.
The UK's foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, urged on social media for Israel to end its blockade on Gaza.
In a social media post on X on Friday, Cooper wrote: "All aid routes must be opened and aid restrictions lifted now".
She said that last week in Jordan, she witnessed warehouses stacked with aid that Israel is not allowing into the enclave.
Israeli forces on Sunday evening launched several raids on Palestinian villages across the occupied West Bank.
According to various reports, Israeli forces detained a 13-year-old boy, wounded a man and used tear gas on Palestinian worshippers.
Another teenager was arrested in a town near Jenin, with Israeli forces also beating him.
North of occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli forces also shot a Palestinian man in the leg.
U.S. forces are taking part in overseeing and coordinating aid transfers into the Gaza Strip together with Israel as part of U.S. President Donald Trump's ceasefire plan, an Israeli security official said on Saturday.
The Washington Post reported on Friday that the U.S.-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) will replace Israel in overseeing aid into Gaza. It cited a U.S. official and people familiar with the matter as saying Israel was part of the process but that CMCC would decide what aid enters Gaza and how.
The Israeli security official said that Israeli security services remain part of policy, supervision, and monitoring with decisions made jointly, and that the integration of the CMCC was already underway.
A spokesperson for the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem told Reuters that the U.S. was "working hard, in tandem with Israel and regional partners, on the next phases of implementing" the president's "historic peace plan". That includes coordinating the immediate distribution of humanitarian assistance and working through details.
Israeli settlers attacked a group of Palestinian villagers, activists and journalists on Saturday who had gathered during an attempt to harvest olives near an illegal settler outpost in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, witnesses said.
Two Reuters employees - a journalist and a security adviser accompanying her - were among those injured in the attack by the men who wielded sticks and clubs and hurled large rocks, in an area close to the Palestinian village of Beita.
The area, lying south of the West Bank city of Nablus, has in past years been a flashpoint for settler attacks, which increased across the West Bank after the war on Gaza began two years ago. Such attacks have escalated during this year's olive harvest, which started in October.
As the number of such attacks has climbed, activists have often joined Palestinians to support them and their right to harvest their olive groves, while also documenting any violence. Activists or local Palestinians often inform journalists of harvesting plans, so they can attend to report, particularly in flashpoint areas, such as outposts.
Israel Katz, the defence minister, said late on Saturday that the country "will continue to act" unti the remaining bodies of captives in Gaza are returned.
He added that Tel Aviv's 'actions' will continue in Gaza until "the last tunnel is dug".
His comments come as Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes despite a ceasefire, particularly in the south of the enclave.
Israel has killed at least 240 Palestinians in Gaza since the ceasefire deal commenced last month, the Palestinian health ministry said.
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese responded after Israel’s UN ambassador, Danny Danon, labelled her a “witch” while she presented her latest report on Gaza.
In the report, Albanese accuses dozens of countries of being complicit in Israel’s alleged genocide through military, economic and diplomatic support.
“You’re the one accused of genocide. If then if the worst thing you can accuse me for is witchcraft, I take it,” she said in an interview with Al Jazeera English. “If I had the power to make spells, I would use it not for vengeance. I would use it to stop your crimes once and for all.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) has appealed for the reopening of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt to allow the evacuation of 16,500 Palestinian patients in urgent need of medical care.
“The Rafah crossing is a vital exit for medical evacuations and a key entry for health supplies into Gaza. Egypt remains one of the main destinations for patients needing urgent care,” the WHO said in a post on X.
According to the agency, around 4,000 patients from Gaza have already been transferred through Rafah for treatment in Egypt and other countries.
It added that medical supplies bound for Gaza “are on standby at the border”.

Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, announced that it has recovered the body of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin in Rafah, southern Gaza.
Al Jazeera reported, citing a senior Hamas source, that the remains of six Palestinians killed at the same site were also recovered.
Goldin was killed and captured during the 2014 war in Gaza.
Hamas has denounced a new wave of Israeli settler attacks against Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank, saying the assaults — often carried out under the protection of Israeli forces — reveal "the true fascist face of the Israeli occupation".
In a statement, senior Hamas official Abd al-Rahman Shadeed said the attacks, which injured several farmers, journalists, and foreign volunteers, are part of Israel’s continued efforts to displace Palestinians and destroy their means of livelihood.
He added that these assaults form part of a wider “annexation and displacement plan” intended to tighten Israeli control over the occupied West Bank.
Shadeed noted that the targeting of farmland, especially during the olive harvest season, represents a “desperate attempt” to undermine Palestinians’ resilience.
“Our people will continue to cling to their land, and the olive harvest will remain a symbol of rootedness, resilience, and resistance in the face of occupation and settlement expansion,” he said.
Hamas further urged the international community to “curb the bloodthirsty Israeli government that provides full cover to settler gangs” accused of violating international law.
Members of Irish soccer's governing body approved a resolution on Saturday instructing its board to submit a formal motion to UEFA requesting the immediate suspension of Israel from European competitions, Reuters reported, citing a source at the meeting.
The resolution cited alleged violations by Israel's Football Association of two provisions of UEFA statutes, namely its failure to implement and enforce an effective anti-racism policy and organisation of clubs in occupied Palestinian territories without the consent of the Palestinian Football Association.
The Israeli military said it intercepted and shot down a drone that entered Israeli airspace from the border with Egypt overnight on Saturday.
According to the army’s statement, the drone was allegedly carrying three weapons intended for smuggling into Israel.
One Palestinian was killed in Gaza by Israeli firing and another wounded on Saturday, local medics said, as a fragile ceasefire holds between Hamas and Israel.
Gazan medical officials said the person who died was killed by Israeli firing east of Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. Civil defence rescuers said one Palestinian was shot and wounded by Israeli gunfire in the western Khan Younis area in the southern part of the Strip.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the latest developments.
Another Israeli drone strike has targeted southern Lebanon, hitting a vehicle in the Baraachit area, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
A photo released by the agency showed smoke billowing from the burning wreckage of a car on a road following the attack, which reportedly caused an unspecified number of casualties.
This marks at least the third Israeli aerial strike on southern Lebanon today, following earlier attacks near Bint Jbeil and Shebaa.
The Israeli military has acknowledged responsibility for an airstrike that killed two people near the southern Lebanese town of Shebaa.
In a statement, the army claimed the victims were members of the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, a paramilitary force affiliated with Hezbollah, and alleged they were involved in a weapons-smuggling operation.
The military also released footage purportedly showing the moment the vehicle carrying the two men was struck and set ablaze.
Earlier, the European Union condemned the recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon, calling on Israel to “cease all actions” that breach the year-old ceasefire agreement.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for the immediate release of 16-year-old US citizen Mohammed Ibrahim, after Israeli military prosecutors reportedly threatened to extend his detention for up to another three years.
According to CAIR, Ibrahim’s sworn statement details severe mistreatment, including beatings with rifle butts, starvation, and denial of medical care since his arrest nearly nine months ago.
"When asked about his interrogation, Mohammed said 'the interrogator threatened that if I did not comply, he would instruct the soldiers to beat me. Out of sheer fear, I ultimately confessed.'"
CAIR’s government affairs director, Robert McCaw, stated: "For every day that Mohammed Ibrahim is unjustly imprisoned and abused by the Israeli military, we will continue to pressure our elected officials to demand his immediate release."
Israeli assaults on Gaza over the past three days have left one person dead and six others injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
The ministry also reported that rescuers have recovered the bodies of nine individuals killed in earlier strikes.
These latest figures bring the total number of people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the ceasefire took effect on 10 October to 241, with 614 more wounded.
Overall, since the start of the war, 69,169 Palestinians have been killed and 170,685 others injured, according to the ministry’s data.

The Israeli security official said that Israeli security services remain part of policy, supervision and monitoring with decisions made jointly, and that the integration of the CMCC was already underway.
The U.S. embassy in Israel and CMCC did not immediately respond to the latest report.
The European Union on Saturday condemned Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and asked it to respect a ceasefire with the militant group Hezbollah.
Israel conducted fresh attacks in southern Lebanon on Thursday, claiming to target the Iran-backed organisation and accusing the group of rearming.
"The EU calls on Israel to cease all actions that violate resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement reached a year ago in November 2024," the EU's foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni stated.
"At the same time, we urge all Lebanese actors and especially Hezbollah to refrain from any measures or responses that could further inflame the situation," he added.
"Focus by all parties must be on preserving the ceasefire and the progress achieved so far."
The Israeli army had previously told residents of four villages to evacuate buildings, warning that it planned to target Hezbollah's military infrastructure.
The Lebanese army has accused Israel of seeking to "undermine Lebanon's stability" with Thursday's strikes and to "prevent the completion of the army's deployment" in line with the ceasefire.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the Israeli strikes, as has Iran, which on Friday called them "savage" attacks and appealed for the international community to intervene.
An Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle between the south-eastern Lebanese towns of Ain Ata and Chebaa has resulted in the deaths of two brothers, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
The Israeli army has not issued a statement regarding the attack, which comes amid an intensifying wave of Israeli strikes across Lebanon in recent days, despite a ceasefire agreed a year ago.
The US State Department has lifted sanctions on Syria’s interim president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, just days ahead of his planned visit to the White House.
In a statement, the department said that both al-Sharaa and Syrian Interior Minister Anas Hasan Khattab were being removed from a list of individuals designated as terrorists and subject to US government sanctions.
"The adoption of this resolution sent a strong political signal that further recognises Syria’s transition to a new chapter," said State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
Al-Sharaa, who had been on the sanctions list since 2013, is scheduled to visit the White House on Monday- marking the first visit by a Syrian president to Washington.
The Red Cross has handed over the bodies of 15 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza after Israel confirmed the identity of the most recently released captive by Hamas.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, the bodies were returned by Israel as part of the latest exchange agreement.
Under the October ceasefire deal, Hamas released all 20 surviving captives held in Gaza since the 2023 attack on Israel, in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and wartime detainees held in Israeli custody.
Iran's embassy in Mexico on Friday rejected claims by the United States and Israel that it had plotted to assassinate Israel's ambassador to the Latin American country -- a plot that was foiled.
"It is a media invention, a great big lie, whose objective is to damage the friendly and historic relations between both countries (Mexico and Iran), which we categorically reject," Tehran's embassy in Mexico posted on X.
An Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle near a hospital in the Bint Jbeil area of southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. The report did not specify whether there were any casualties.
The attack follows a series of Israeli air raids across Lebanon in recent days, which Israel claims were aimed at Hezbollah fighters and military positions.
Israel has identified the latest body returned from Gaza by Hamas and Islamic Jihad as Israeli-Argentinian hostage Lior Rudaeff, the Israeli army said Saturday.
"Following the completion of the identification process by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine... IDF (Israeli military) representatives informed the family of Lior Rudaeff that he had been returned for burial," the military said in a statement.
Rudaeff, 61, was killed in Nir Yitzhak kibbutz while trying to protect his community with four other residents on October 7, 2023 during the Hamas attack on Israel that was followed by the Gaza war, and his body was taken to the Palestinian territory that day.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued arrest warrants for 37 senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and Naval Forces Commander David Saar Salama.
They are accused of committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza, as well as ordering attacks on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.
According to the prosecutor’s statement, Israel’s actions in Gaza since October 2023 have involved systematic assaults on civilians, hospitals, and critical infrastructure. The statement cited incidents such as the bombing of the al-Ehli Baptist Hospital, the destruction of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, and the killing of six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was allegedly shot multiple times by Israeli forces.
The investigation also includes Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. Survivors of the operation, later repatriated to Turkey, provided testimony and forensic evidence that contributed to the case.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects are not currently in Turkey but stated that international arrest warrants have been issued. The prosecutor’s office said proceedings are continuing “with precision and in all aspects.”
