Israel has constructed a new military training facility in the occupied Golan Heights to prepare for a possible fresh round of warfare in southern Lebanon, according to reports.

Dubbed the 'Lebanon facility', the camp was unveiled on Sunday with tunnels, alleyways, and apartment blocks constructed to create an environment for realistic urban combat in Lebanon.

It also includes replicated bombed-out neighbourhoods that appear designed to replicate the devastated towns and villages of southern Lebanon.

Israel's war against Hezbollah killed over 4,000 Lebanese. and injured 17,000 others, which led to whole residential areas in southern Lebanon being utterly destroyed.

It is designed to allow 7th and 401st brigades commando and infantry units to prepare for a possible new bout of fighting in Lebanon and was opened last week.

A ceasefire in November reduced Israeli large-scale bombing of Lebanon, but Israeli airstrikes on the country have continued, while Israeli forces still occupy parts of the south.

Israel launched a new round of air strikes in the Bekaa Valley on Monday, claiming to target a Hezbollah unit, which emerged during the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon during the civil war.
