The death toll in Iran from the ongoing war with the United States and Israel has reached at least 1,045 people, an Iranian government agency said on Wednesday, as strikes pounded the capital Tehran.

The United States and Israel hit other Iranian cities in multiple airstrikes Wednesday, the fifth day of the war that has dragged nearly the entire region into conflict, including the Arab Gulf.

Israel expanded its air strikes in Lebanon on Wednesday, targeting Beirut's southern suburbs and southern Lebanon, with the death toll rising to 72 since Monday morning when Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel in response to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

The US has also advised its citizens to leave Iraq immediately. Iraq has seen drone strikes on US and Kurdish forces in the north of the country, drone attacks on US bases in Baghdad, and airstrikes on Iran-backed Shia militias.
