The United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on Saturday as the Islamic republic retaliated with barrages of missiles at Gulf states and Israel.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that Khamenei is dead. This was later confirmed by Iranian state media.
Tehran has called the claim of the Supreme Leader's death as "mental warfare".
Explosions were heard in the capitals of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait - all countries that host US forces.

The US and Israeli attacks followed weeks of sabre-rattling and a major American military build-up in the Middle East, with Iran repeatedly threatening to react fiercely to any attack and warning of a conflict that would engulf the region.
Smoke was rising over Tehran's Pasteur district, site of the home of Khamenei, and there was a huge security deployment in the capital.
More than 200 people have been reported killed in the US-Israel attacks on Iran.

Iranian state media confirms the death of IRGC commander, Major General Mohammad Pakpour, and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Admiral Ali Shamkhani - both killed in earlier US-Israeli strikes.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Sunday that Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "will not be mourned", as state media in the Islamic republic confirmed he had been killed.
"Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was responsible for the regime's ballistic missile and nuclear program, support for armed proxies and its brutal acts of violence and intimidation against its own people," Albanese told reporters.
"He was responsible for orchestrating attacks on Australian soil. His passing will not be mourned."
Iranians in Los Angeles took to the streets to cheer the death of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Saturday, joining protests in support of the US and Israeli strikes on Iran across the North American diaspora.
In the West Coast city, singing and ululating protesters marched with flags of Shah-era Iran, carrying posters bearing US President Donald Trump's image and wearing shirts that said "Free Iran," an AFP reporter saw.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has canceled his trip to Israel early next week following the US-Israel strikes on Iran, State Department official says.
The UAE said the vast majority of the 137 missiles and 209 drones fired at its territory by Iran were destroyed or intercepted, the defence ministry said Sunday, as Tehran launched a barrage of projectiles at Gulf states after being attacked by the US and Israel.
"The ministry expressed that it is on high alert and readiness to deal with any threats, and that it is taking all necessary measures to firmly confront everything that targets the disruption of the country's security and stability, and affirmed that the safety of citizens, residents and visitors represents an utmost priority that cannot be compromised," the ministry said a statement posted on X.
Israel has reported the first death from Iranian strikes following an earlier missile attack in Tel Aviv that injured at least 20 other people.
The son of Iran's late shah on Saturday hailed the reported killing of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying the Islamic republic that replaced his pro-Western father was finished.
"With his death, the Islamic Republic has effectively come to an end and will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history," Reza Pahlavi wrote on X.
He warned against appointing a successor and called on security forces to join in a transition.

Dubai airport, the world's busiest for international traffic, was damaged and four staff were injured in an "incident", it said on Saturday following waves of Iranian missile attacks.
"A concourse at Dubai International sustained minor damage in an incident, which was quickly contained," Dubai Airports said in a statement, adding: "Due to contingency plans already in place, most of the terminals were previously cleared of passengers."
Iran's top security official Ali Shamkhani, whom Israel said was killed on Saturday, rose through the ranks of the Revolutionary Guards and now heads the Defence Council.
There was no confirmation from Tehran that Shamkhani was dead, but the Israeli military said he was among several senior Iranian officials killed in a wave of US-Israel strikes on Iran.

The Israeli military said it had deployed forces to multiple impact sites across Israel after Iran launched a new barrage of missiles toward the country on Saturday evening.
"Soldiers of the Home Front Command, both in active and reserves, are deployed and operating at several impact sites simultaneously, conducting extensive search and rescue efforts," the military said.
Air defense systems are being activated against a suspected Iranian missile attack targeting Prince Sultan Air Base housing US troops near Riyadh, according to Fox News.

Qatar on Saturday summoned Iran's ambassador in protest over attacks on its territory, the Gulf state's foreign ministry said in a statement.
Qatar "affirmed to the Iranian ambassador that the repetition of this targeting constitutes a reckless and irresponsible act", the statement said, adding the envoy was told: "The continuation of such irresponsible actions will inevitably lead to serious repercussions on bilateral relations".
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had targeted the Israeli defence ministry and military bases among other targets with a fresh wave of strikes late on Saturday.
"The Israeli army naval base in Haifa Port, the regime's warship dock in Haifa, the Ramat David air base, the regime's Ministry of War in the Hakeryat area, the Beit Shams military-industrial complex and the Ishtod military industrial complex are among the targets during the third and fourth waves," the Guards said in a statement on Telegram.
The United Nations' rights chief deplored Saturday's strikes in the Middle East and urged all parties to return to negotiations, saying attacks would only result in "death, destruction and human misery".

US President Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, has said that Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is dead.
He said: "This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country. We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us."
However, Trump added that bombing would continue, saying, "The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!"
Qatar's ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani urged the containment of violence in the region on a Saturday call with US President Donald Trump after Iranian missiles and drones targeted countries across the Gulf including Qatar.
On the call, the leaders "addressed the latest security developments in the region and their repercussions," Sheikh Tamim's office said in a statement, adding: "The emir stressed the need to contain this dangerous escalation through diplomatic solutions and peaceful means."
Israel's police say multiple people were injured following the earlier Iranian missile strike at a residential area in an unspecified part of Tel Aviv.
Israel's emergency service Magen David Adom said Saturday that one person was in serious condition in the Tel Aviv area after Iran fired a barrage of missiles toward Israel.
Paramedics were providing medical treatment to "a male approximately 40 years old in serious condition with shrapnel injuries," MDA said in a statement.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday he was "deeply disturbed" by the Israeli-US attacks on Iran, but also condemned Tehran's retaliatory strikes on the Gulf, demanding action to end the conflict.

Meanwhile, a video is circulating in Israeli media showing a large fire following an apparent missile strike in Tel Aviv.
German shipowners Hapag-Lloyd, the fifth largest in the world, announced Saturday it was suspending traffic by its vessels through the Strait of Hormuz because of the unfolding conflict in the region.
"Due to the conflict in the Middle East and the official closure of the Strait of Hormuz by relevant authorities amid the evolving security situation in the region, Hapag-Lloyd is suspending all vessel transits through the waterway until further notice," it said.

AFP journalists heard a series of blasts in Jerusalem, central Israel and Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, on Saturday night, with a journalist in Tel Aviv reporting a large explosion.
The blasts followed sirens, after the military said it had identified a new round of missiles launched from Iran.
Eight people were injured, with one of them in critical condition, in Iranian missile and drone attacks on Qatar on Saturday which also damaged a radar system at the Al Udeid military base near Doha.
"Qatar was targeted by 44 missiles and eight drones... with eight injured including one in critical condition," a diplomat told AFP on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive details.
Most of the attacks were intercepted but a long-range radar system was hit in the salvos and damaged, the diplomat added.
When asked by NBC News about the death of Iran's Ali Khamenei, US President Donald Trump said "We feel that is a correct story".

A United States senior administration official on Saturday said President Donald Trump was not going to "sit back and allow American forces in the region to absorb attacks," as the U.S. had "indicators" that Iran could potentially preemptively strike.
Two Israeli television networks reported that a photograph of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's body had been shown to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"A photo of the body was shown to Netanyahu and Trump," reported Channel 12.
"Senior Israeli officials were informed of Khamenei's elimination. His body was recovered from the rubble of his compound," reported public broadcaster Kan.
There has been no confirmation of Khamenei's death from Tehran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran killed senior officials in the Islamic republic and warned that thousands more targets would be struck in the coming days.
"This morning we eliminated senior figures in the ayatollahs' regime - commanders in the Revolutionary Guards and senior officials in the nuclear programme - and we will continue," Netanyahu said in a televised statement.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who turned the country into a powerful anti-U.S. force and extended its military influence across the Middle East while crushing repeated domestic unrest, was killed in Israeli, U.S. strikes, senior Israeli official told Reuters on Saturday.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for oil and gas shipments, is unsafe due to US and Israeli attacks and was therefore closed to ships on Saturday, local media reported.
"The IRGC has warned various ships that due to the insecure atmosphere around the strait because of the military aggression by the US and Israel and the responses of Iran, it is not safe to pass through the strait at the moment," the Tasnim news agency reported.

Hardline Iranian political figures have threatened to close the strait in the event of a US attack, but no official decision has been taken so far.
Air raid sirens have been reactivated in Bahrain, the country's interior ministry said on X.
The United States on Saturday urged its citizens around the world to excercise increased vigilance over potential impacts from the joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran.
"Following the launch of US combat operations in Iran, Americans worldwide and especially in the Middle East should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest US embassy or consulate," the State Department wrote on X.
It additionally advised "Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution."
President Donald Trump spoke Saturday with the head of NATO and leaders of three Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia following the US and Israeli military strikes on Iran, the White House said.
"President Trump has spoken with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X.
The three nations host major US military bases on their soil, and Iran has launched retaliatory attacks on such facilities following the initials strikes on the Islamic republic.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that there were many signs indicating Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "is no longer", without explicitly confirming his death.
Netanyahu also said Khamenei's compound had been destroyed, and Revolutionary Guard commanders and senior nuclear officials had ben destroyed.
Iran called Saturday for an emergency meeting of the UN nuclear watchdog to discuss "baseless" US and Israeli claims that Tehran's atomic programme partly justified their military action against it.

Several crossings into the besieged Gaza Strip including the Rafah crossing, located at the Palestinian territory's southern border with Egypt, were closed on Saturday as Israeli and U.S. forces attacked Iran, the Israeli government agency COGAT said.
The joint US-Israeli attacks against Iran on Saturday involved the dropping of 30 bombs on the compound of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Israel's Channel 12 network reported.
"Thirty bombs were dropped on the complex. Ali Khamenei was underground, but probably not in his own bunker," Channel 12's Amit Segal, who is known to be close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said without giving a source.
Iranian authorities say at least 17 people killed and more than 100 others were injured in earlier strikes by US-Israeli forces on residential buildings and sports facility in Lamerd.
European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Saturday that she was convening an extraordinary video-call meeting of EU foreign ministers on Sunday to discuss Iran and events unfolding across the Middle East.

Three residential buildings in and around the Bahraini capital Manama were damaged by drone strikes and debris from an intercepted missile, the interior ministry said on Saturday.
"Several residential buildings in Manama were targeted. Civil Defence continues with firefighting and rescue operations at the affected sites," the ministry said in a statement.
In another statement it reported "damage in three buildings in Manama and Muharraq as a result of drone attacks and falling debris from an intercepted missile".

The US military said Saturday that it has been using single-use drones to attack Iran for the first time in combat, signaling adoption by the world's wealthiest military of a technology surging to prominence in the Ukraine-Russia war.

EU chief Ursula von der Leyen condemned Iran's "unjustifiable attacks" on the United Arab Emirates Saturday, after Tehran launched waves of reprisal attacks following US and Israeli strikes.
Von der Leyen said she "conveyed our full support and extended our condolences following Iran's strikes and the resulting casualties" after a call with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed.
"Europe strongly condemns these unjustifiable attacks. These attacks constitute a blatant violation of the UAE's sovereignty and a clear breach of international law," the European Commission President wrote on X.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with the emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and with United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in separate phone calls on Saturday, Downing Street said in a statement.
The U.S. military suffered no combat casualties after Iran retaliated against U.S.-Israeli strikes with hundreds of missiles and drones, U.S. Central Command said on Saturday.
"Damage to U.S. installations was minimal and has not impacted operations," the U.S. military's Central Command said.
The United States targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities along with Iranian missile and drone launch sites, the U.S. military said on Saturday.
Dozens of motorbike-riding supporters of the Iranian government paraded on Saturday down a Tehran avenue playing martial music and waving the flag of the Islamic republic, AFP journalists reported.

The UAE has urged all its citizens and residents through SMS to remain indoors and await official instructions, as the country came under attack by Iran on Saturday.
Qatar was targeted by 44 missiles and 8 drones so far during Iranian attacks on Saturday, an official briefed on the attacks told Reuters.
Three Kuwaiti soldiers were injured by shrapnel after a base housing US personnel was targeted earlier on Saturday, a Kuwait defence ministry spokesman said, as Iran hit the Gulf in retaliation for US and Israeli attacks.
"Shrapnel fell at Ali Al Salem Air Base after air defence forces engaged ballistic missiles and drones, resulting in minor injuries to three members of the armed forces and some material damage," said Colonel Saud Al-Atwan.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday he was "deeply disturbed" by the Israeli-US attacks on Iran, but also condemned Tehran's retaliatory strikes on the Gulf, demanding action to end the conflict.
"We are deeply disturbed over the US-Israel attacks on our neighbour Iran," he said in a televised address.
Iran's drone and missile attacks against the Gulf were "unacceptable", he added, saying that all actors, "especially the Islamic world, must take action".
More than 200 people have been killed and over 740 wounded in 24 provinces in Iran in the US-Israel strikes, the Iranian Red Crescent said Saturday.
Oman called on all parties to stop fighting on Saturday, warning of "dire consequences" as the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, which has retaliated with wide-ranging missile attacks.
The foreign ministry of Oman, a mediator in recent US-Iran talks, expressed "deep regret over the military operations launched by Israel and the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning of the danger of the conflict escalating into something with dire consequences for the region".
Oman said it calls "on all parties to immediately cease military operations and urges the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency meeting to impose a ceasefire".
Israel says it hit about 500 targets in Iran on Saturday, including missile launchers and air defences. The Israeli army said the air raids on Iran have been the "largest ever" in its air force's history.
Residential buildings were targeted in Manama, the interior ministry said on Saturday, as Iran launched strikes across the oil-rich Gulf in retaliation for US and Israeli attacks.

US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa told Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that Israel will not escalate against Lebanon if it refrains from hostile actions.
Aoun has repeatedly said his country does not seek another war with Israel, and has called on the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group not to intervene in the US-Israel and Iran conflict.

A series of fresh blasts was heard in Tehran on Saturday evening, according to AFP journalists, though their origin was not immediately known.
State TV also reported the loud noises without offering further details, though they came after the US and Israel launched major strikes against the Islamic republic.
New strikes hit an Iraqi military base housing the pro-Iran armed group Kataeb Hezbollah just hours after an earlier attack blamed on the US killed two fighters, several sources told AFP.
"New stikes hit the Jurf al-Nasr base," said a source from the Hashed al-Shaabi, a former paramilitary group now integrated into the regular army.
A Kataeb Hezbollah official confirmed a new attack had occurred.
US President Donald Trump has "closely" been monitoring the situation in Iran "throughout the day," the White House says.
Jordan's armed forces said they had successfully intercepted 13 ballistic missiles since Saturday morning in an operation that resulted in damage but no casualties.
"The armed forces engaged 49 drones and ballistic missiles targeting Jordanian territory today," a military source said in a statement, adding that "13 ballistic missiles were successfully intercepted by Jordanian air defence systems, while drones were shot down".
The statement said "the interception operation resulted in material damage but no casualties".
A military official previously said the armed forces had shot down two missiles.
The Jordanian Public Security Directorate said the civil defence and police personnel had dealt with "54 reports resulting from falling objects and debris in the governorates of the capital, Zarqa, Jerash, Madaba, Irbid and West Balqa".
Germany on Saturday tightened travel recommendations for the Middle East following strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran and retaliation from Tehran.
Berlin issued travel warnings for Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the foreign ministry announced after an emergency government meeting.
German nationals were advised to leave Lebanon, where the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group remains under frequent Israeli attack, while in Iran this advice has been in place since 2022.
The US Transportation Department urged commercial vessels Saturday to stay away from the Gulf after the US and Israel launched heavy bombing attacks on Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz, Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea are subject to "significant military activity" and "it is recommended that vessels keep clear of this area if possible," the department's Maritime Administration said in a statement.
US-flagged, owned or crewed ships should also stay 30 nautical miles from any US military vessel to avoid being mistaken as a threat, it said.
An official from the European Union's naval mission Aspides said on Saturday that vessels have been receiving VHF transmission from Iran's Revolutionary Guards saying "no ship is allowed to pass the Strait of Hormuz".
The strait is the world's most vital oil export route, which connects the biggest Gulf oil producers, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
The official, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said Iran had not formally confirmed any such order. Tehran has for years threatened to block the narrow waterway in retaliation for any attack on the Islamic Republic.
A detonation in an ammunition and missile depot in southern Syria's Suweida killed five people on Saturday, state media said, after initial reports blamed an Iranian missile.
"The explosion that occurred today in the city of Suweida was caused by the detonation of an ammunition and missile depot belonging to the National Guard," a Druze group that controls Suweida, state television reported, quoting a security source, adding that it killed five people.
Syria's official SANA news agency had earlier said that the fall of an Iranian missile on building in Suweida killed four people.
Israel's ongoing strikes on Iran are part of an "unprecedented" operation against the Islamic republic, the country's military chief said on Saturday.
"We are operating at a high level of operational readiness, both defensively and offensively. We now face a significant, decisive and unprecedented operation to dismantle the capabilities of the Iranian terrorist regime," Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said in a televised statement.
Lebanon's Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah called on Saturday for the Middle East to stand against Israel and the United States' attack on Iran.
In a statement, the group called upon "the countries and peoples of the region to stand against" the attack, warning that "its dire consequences will affect everyone without exception if left unchecked".
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem was scheduled to make a televised speech on Saturday, but it was subsequently postponed.
Virgin Atlantic said on Saturday it had decided to temporarily avoid Iraqi airspace, resulting in some pre-planned rerouting of its flights, following strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.
The airline added that, as a precautionary measure, it had also cancelled a number of flights from London Heathrow to Dubai and Riyadh.
"The safety and security of our customers and people always comes first and we continue to monitor the situation in the Middle East with ongoing dynamic assessments and active changes to our flight routings based on the latest information and guidance, if required," a spokesperson said in a statement.
A drone struck Kuwait's international airport on Saturday, the civil aviation authority said, causing minor injuries as Iran retaliated across the Gulf for US and Israeli strikes.
"A drone targeted Kuwait International Airport, resulting in minor injuries to a number of employees, in addition to limited material damage to the passenger terminal," the authority said in a statement.

Bahrain announced that all schools and universities would switch to long-distance learning until further notice following Iranian missile attacks on Saturday.
"The ministry of education announces that, as a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of students in educational institutions, it has been decided to switch to distance learning starting tomorrow and until further notice," it said in a statement.
"This applies to all early childhood education institutions, public and private schools and higher education institutions," it added.
Two witnesses told AFP they heard an explosion and saw a plume of smoke rising from Dubai's famed man-made island The Palm as authorities reported four injured The Palm.
The Dubai media office later confirmed an "incident" in a building in the Palm Jumeirah area that resulted in a fire and four people injured.
"Dubai Civil Defence has confirmed that the resulting fire is now under control. Four individuals sustained injuries and have been transferred to medical facilities," it added.
The incident targeting a Dubai landmark shocked residents, and was followed by several bangs heard by Dubai residents and AFP correspondents in the city.

Iran's foreign minister said the country's supreme leader was alive, along with all high-ranking officials, after Israel and the United States launched strikes across the country on Saturday.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News that supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was alive "as far as I know", in an interview from Tehran with the US outlet, adding that "all high ranking officials are alive".
Araghchi said he had been in contact with Gulf states and "explained for them that we have no intention to attack them but we are actually attacking the American bases in the act of self defence".
He added that while there was no communication with Washington now, "if Americans wants to talk to us. They know how they can contact me. We are certainly interested for de-escalation".
Qatar on Saturday temporarily suspended maritime transport in its territorial waters as Iran targeted US military bases across the Gulf, including Al Udeid base on the outskirts of Doha.
"In the interest of public safety, the Ministry of Transport calls on all maritime transport vessels belonging to individuals and companies to temporarily suspend maritime navigation," Qatar's transport ministry said in a statement.
De facto Saudi leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday held calls with the leaders of the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan, Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry said.
On the calls, Prince Mohammed "affirmed the Kingdom's full solidarity and standing alongside the brotherly countries, and the Kingdom's readiness to place all its capabilities at their disposal", a ministry statement said, after Iranian missiles targeted US bases in countries across the region.
Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei is alive "as far as I know," Iran's foreign minister said.
Iran's foreign minister called on Saturday for the international community to "hold the criminals accountable" after the US and Israel launched a wave of strikes on targets in the Islamic republic.
In a call with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi "stressed the importance of decisive action by the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to stop the aggressive actions and hold the criminals accountable", according to a readout from the ministry.
Syria's national carrier Syrian Air has cancelled all flights until further notice, it said in a statement carried by state television on Saturday.
"We announce the cancellation of all scheduled flights to and from Damascus and Aleppo International Airports until further notice," the company said.
The development comes as many airlines are cancelling flights to the region after a US-Israeli attack on Iran triggered missile launches from Tehran.
The United States has urged its citizens in Lebanon to leave the country while commercial options are available and warned against travel to the country, its embassy in Beirut said on Saturday.
"If already in the country, the Department of State urges US citizens to depart Lebanon now while commercial options remain available," the embassy's statement read, adding that they "urge US citizens not to travel to Lebanon".
Lebanon's authorities fear the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah could become involved in the conflict that saw the US and Israel bomb Iran on Saturday and Tehran respond with missile attacks.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Saturday all sites involved in the Israeli and US strikes on Iran were "legitimate targets" for the Islamic republic's armed forces.
"The Iranian armed forces consider as legitimate targets the sites from which the US and Zionist operations were carried out as well as the sites of all actions against Iran's defensive operations," Araghchi said on Iranian TV.
Iraqi authorities denounced US-Israeli strikes on neighbouring Iran and warned against drawing Iraq into the conflict, after two people were killed in airstrikes in the country's south.
Sabah Al-Numan, the military spokesman for the prime minister, said that Iraq "condemned the unjustified aggression against the Islamic Republic", and "warned of the consequences of the blatant aggression" against Iraqi sites.
He also warned against using Iraq's airspace and territory "as a corridor or launching point for aggression against Iran", adding that Iraq "equally rejects the use of its land or territorial waters as a means of dragging the country into the conflict."
The US embassy in Bahrain said it will close on Sunday after Iranian missiles targeted Manama, as Tehran launched broad retaliatory strikes in the Gulf following American and Israeli attacks.
"In light of ongoing missile strikes against Bahrain on February 28, the US Embassy in Bahrain will be closed on Sunday, March 1, 2026," the embassy said in a statement on X.
"We have cancelled all regular and emergency consular appointments for Sunday, March 1, 2026. We will communicate when the embassy returns to normal operations," it added.
Kuwait's defence ministry said its forces intercepted missiles targeting a miliary base hosting US and other foreign personnel, as Iran wages retaliatory strikes on US assets in the Gulf after US and Israeli attacks.
"Ali Al Salem Air Base was targeted by a number of ballistic missiles. This morning, the Kuwaiti Air Defence Force successfully intercepted them," said defence ministry spokesman Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan.
AFP correspondents in Dubai heard a fresh wave of explosions in the Emirates' most populated city, as Iran struck locations across the Gulf in retaliation for US and Israeli attacks.

The United Arab Emirates said Saturday it intercepted a second wave of Iranian strikes, reporting that missile fragments fell across the capital Abu Dhabi without causing injuries, after a first wave killed one civilian.
"The Ministry of Defence announced that UAE air defences successfully intercepted a new wave of Iranian missiles," it said in a statement.
"Fragments of the intercepted missiles fell in various areas of Abu Dhabi, including Saadiyat Island, Khalifa City, Bani Yas, Mohamed bin Zayed City and Al Falah," it added, confirming "there were no injuries in these locations".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned strikes on ally Iran launched Saturday by the United States and Israel in a phone call with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, his ministry said.
Lavrov "condemned the unprovoked armed attack by the US and Israel on Iran, which violates the principles and norms of international law and completely disregards the grave consequences for regional and global stability and security", the ministry said in a statement.
The phone call was held "at the initiative of the Iranian side", the Russian ministry added.
The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which fought a deadly war with Israel for two years, condemned on Saturday the ongoing Israeli and US strikes on its backer Iran.
"The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemns in the strongest terms the Zionist-American aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and affirms that this Zionist-American aggression constitutes a direct assault on the entire region and an attack on its security, stability and sovereignty," Hamas said in a statement.
French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday called for an "urgent meeting" of the UN Security Council following the US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran's retaliation, warning that any escalation "must stop".
"France is calling for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council," Macron wrote on X.
"The current escalation is dangerous for everyone. It must stop," he added, warning that the outbreak of war between the US, Israel, and Iran carries "serious consequences" for international security.
The Israeli military said it targeted multiple sites where senior Iranian officials had gathered in the capital Tehran on Saturday morning, as it launched strikes against its arch-foe.
"The attack this morning was carried out simultaneously at several sites in Tehran, where senior officials in Iran's political-security echelon had gathered," the military said in a statement posted on X, without confirming the results.
A missile killed four people when it struck a building in southern Syria on Saturday, state media reported, after a US-Israeli attack on Iran sparked a response from Tehran.
Quoting the media directorate in Sweida, the official SANA news agency reported that "four people were killed and a number of people were injured as a result of a missile explosion in the industrial area inside the city of Sweida".
The state media report did not specify where the missile had originated, after a previous report said it had been fired from Iran.
Bahrain said it was evacuating people from a neighbourhood housing the headquarters of the US navy's Fifth Fleet after it was targeted by Iranian missiles on Saturday.
"The Ministry of Interior has begun evacuating citizens and residents in the Juffair area. We urge your cooperation with the relevant authorities," the ministry of interior said in a statement.

India's two largest private carriers IndiGo and Air India suspended flights to all destinations in the Middle East on Saturday after Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran.
"In view of the developing situation in parts of the Middle East, all Air India flights to all destinations in the Middle East have been suspended," Air India said in a statement posted on X.
IndiGo said it was also suspending flights temporarily in view of the safety and security of customers and crew.
"Our teams are continuously monitoring the evolving situation and recalibrating operations to minimise disruption as much as possible," the carrier said on X.
British Airways said on Saturday it has cancelled flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain until March 3 due to the situation in the Middle East, following strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.
"We are closely monitoring the situation and have taken the operational decision to cancel our flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain up to and including 03 March and have cancelled today's service to Amman," the airline said in a statement.
"Safety is always our top priority, and we're contacting our customers to advise them of their travel options."
The Russian Ministry of Transport said on Saturday that Russian air carriers had suspended flights to Iran and Israel.
The ministry said that in connection with the closure of Iranian and Israeli airspace, Russian air carriers, in cooperation with the ministry and Rosaviatsiya aviation watchdog, had worked out alternative flight routes in advance to ensure safe flights to the Persian Gulf countries.
Flight times will increase due to the longer distances, it said.
Rosaviatsiya said in a separate statement published later on Saturday that it had issued recommendations for Russian air carriers after Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait had closed their airspace to ensure flight safety, and UAE authorities had also introduced temporary restrictions on the use of their airspace.
The Russian airspace watchdog said carriers are advised to choose alternative routes when flying to the Persian Gulf countries, observing all safety measures and actively monitoring the recommendations of the aviation authorities of foreign states.
An Israeli security source said that strikes on arch-foe Iran were launched on Saturday due to a "sharp acceleration" in the Islamic republic's production of missiles.
"They are developing dozens of ballistic missiles each month, and their pace of production is getting faster and faster," the source said.
"This is a regime that is moving forward towards producing thousands of missiles in the coming years. A dramatic expansion of an already dangerous arsenal," the source added.

Jordan's armed forces on Saturday shot down two ballistic missiles targeting the kingdom's territory, a military official said.
"They were successfully intercepted by Jordanian air defence systems," the official said.
Saudi Arabia condemned Iranian attacks targeting its neighbours in a statement released by the kingdom's official press agency Saturday, following a flurry of salvos across the Middle East as Israel and the US bombed Iran.
"The kingdom strongly condemns and denounces in the strongest terms the brutal Iranian aggression and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan," said the statement.
However, there was no mention in the statement of Iran targeting Saudi Arabia after several explosions were heard in the Saudi capital Riyadh by AFP journalists earlier Saturday.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said Saturday that his country refused to be dragged into war, after Israel and the United States launched strikes against Iran.
Authorities fear the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah could become involved in the conflict, which saw the US and Israel bomb Iran on Saturday and Tehran respond with missile attacks.
Just before the operation began, Israel announced it was carrying out strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in south Lebanon.
"I reiterate that we will not accept anyone dragging the country into adventures that threaten its security and unity," Salam said on X.
"In light of the serious developments unfolding in the region, I once again call on all Lebanese to act with wisdom and patriotism, placing Lebanon and the Lebanese people's interests above any other consideration," he added.

Australia supports US action against Iran, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Saturday after the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran.
"It has long been recognised that Iran's nuclear program is a threat to global peace and security," Albanese posted on X.
"We support the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent Iran continuing to threaten international peace and security," he said.
The UK government expressed the fear Saturday that the military strikes pitting the United States and Israel against Iran could blow up into a broader Middle East conflict.
"We do not want to see further escalation into a wider regional conflict," a government spokesperson said, adding that the UK's "immediate priority" was the safety of its citizens in the region.
Iran said on Saturday it will "respond decisively" after Israel and the United States launched strikes on the country despite talks underway on Tehran's nuclear programme.
"The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond decisively to the aggressors," a foreign ministry said in a statement, insisting Iran had done "everything necessary to prevent war".
"Just as we were ready for negotiations, we are now more prepared than ever to defend the Iranian nation," it said.

A bombing that targeted an Iraqi military base housing a pro-Iran group killed at least two fighters, sources from the powerful group Kataeb Hezbollah told AFP.
"There are two martyrs from Kataeb and another five wounded in the aggression" on the Jurf al-Sakher base, also known as Jurf al-Nasr, in southern Iraq, a Kataeb Hezbollah source said.

A centre for the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain has been hit in a "missile attack", Bahrain said Saturday, as Iran vowed retaliation following US and Israeli strikes.
"The Fifth Fleet's service centre was subjected to a missile attack. We will provide you with details later," Bahrain's National Communication Centre said, in a statement.

US President Donald Trump announced a major attack against Iran Saturday, vowing to "annihilate" the country's navy and missile sites, and urging Iranians to overthrow their government.

The Israeli military said it detected missiles launched from Iran on Saturday as sirens sounded across several parts of the country, after Israel earlier launched strikes on its arch-foe.
"A short while ago, sirens were sounded in several areas across the country following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel," the military said in a statement.
A cellphone message was sent to members of the public urging them to seek shelter.
