New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani is in talks over whether to try to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during an upcoming UN summit, he said in an interview published Saturday - prompting a sharp rebuke from Netanyahu's camp.

"I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague," Mamdani told The New York Times. "He's a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court."

Multiple fires broke out in the north of the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Saturday, forcing the evacuation of one settlement and injuring at least two firefighters, according to police and rescuers.

The blaze was first reported in the early afternoon west of the Palestinian city of Nablus in the settlement of Kedumim, where two neighbourhoods were evacuated.

The fire later expanded to the nearby settlement of Havat Gilad and intensified, forcing its evacuation.

Firefighting and rescue teams from several areas worked to extinguish hotspots and two firefighters were injured, Israeli fire and rescue services said.

A Lebanese soldier was killed and an officer and another soldier were wounded when a suspicious object exploded in an army vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Mansouri, the Lebanese army said on Saturday.

The Israeli military said on Saturday the vehicle had driven over an explosive device in the Al-Mansouri area, adding a review found the device did not belong to the Israeli military and was most likely placed there by Hezbollah.

The Israeli military said its soldiers had not been present in the area recently and the Lebanese army vehicle had entered what it described as the security zone without prior coordination with Israel, as required under an existing coordination mechanism.

The Lebanese army said it was continuing to investigate the incident and did not provide further details.

A 17-year-old Palestinian footballer died on Saturday, a week after he was shot during an attack by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, according to officials and relatives.

Dozens of mourners dressed in black carried the body of Fadi Hamdallah al-Nassan -- a player for Al-Mughayyir Club and a member of the Palestinian national youth team -- from the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah to his village for burial.

The Palestine Football Association accused Israeli forces of shooting Nassan while settlers were attacking the village on 11 July.

Egypt defender Hossam Abdelmaguid has joined Ludogorets from Zamalek, the 14-time Bulgarian league champions announced on Saturday.

Abdelmaguid, 25, played in this year's World Cup in North America and scored the winning penalty against Australia in the last 32, as Egypt won a knockout-stage match for the first time, before losing 3-2 to defending champions Argentina.

Abdelmaguid, who has made 15 international appearances, won the Egyptian league three times with Zamalek and played a key role in helping the club win the title last season.

Two US service members have been killed, one other is missing and four have been injured in Jordan by Iranian attacks, according to a statement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned in a new written statement of "unforgettable lessons" if the United States continues with its attacks on the Islamic Republic.

The Israeli military said it struck a Hezbollah cell near Tebnit in southern Lebanon on Saturday after soldiers identified a Hezbollah drone in the area.

The air force located fighters that had been operating drones and taking cover near Israeli troops, the military said in a statement, adding that the activity violated ceasefire understandings. There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah.
