The Saudi Council of Ministers renewed its emphasis on immediately stopping all forms of military escalation to preserve the stability of the countries and peoples of the region.

In a statement following a session held today in Jeddah and chaired by the Saudi King, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the council stated once again Saudi Arabia’s solidarity and full support with the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the measures they take against the brutal Iranian attacks that violate international law and the principles of good neighborliness, according to the Saudi News Agency (SPA).

Sirens went off just moments ago in Kuwait, indicating oncoming attacks from Iran.

Two oil tankers which loaded Saudi crude for China and India this week have made U-turns in the Red Sea on Tuesday and were headed toward the Suez, shipping data on LSEG showed, following a warning from Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi militia.

The election of Khalil al-Hayya as head of Hamas's political bureau marks more than a routine leadership transition.

It comes at one of the movement's most turbulent moments, after more than two years of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza that has decimated much of Hamas's senior leadership through Israeli assassinations and left the group confronting difficult political, military, and organisational challenges.

Lebanon army says Israeli troops opened fire near units deploying in what is called a 'pilot zone'. 

The head of the International Energy Agency warned that renewed fighting in the region increases concerns over energy supplies, but that the market still has cushions to absorb the impact.

"The escalation in hostilities affecting the Strait of Hormuz and energy infrastructure in the region increases security of supply concerns and uncertainty over the market outlook," IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said in a statement.

"For the moment, crude oil markets continue to benefit from several cushioning factors," he added, pointing to increased exports from several countries and Saudi and United Arab Emirates oil reaching markets by alternative routes.

A new US intelligence assessment says that the ongoing American strikes on Iran, in their current scope, are unlikely to change Iran’s negotiating position, according to The Washington Post.

As long as tit-for-tat strikes persist, the intelligence assessment noted, Iran and the US will be caught between peace and war indefinitely. 

The United Nations condemned on Tuesday intense and daily Israeli military attacks in Gaza that it said had killed at least 57 Palestinians, including six children, in the past week.

"Nine months after the announcement of a ceasefire, still, nowhere is safe for Palestinians in Gaza," UN rights office spokesman Thameen Al-Kheetan told reporters in Geneva, decrying that "the Israeli military has intensified its attacks in Gaza in recent days, killing and injuring dozens of Palestinians".

Shipping companies should not load or discharge cargo at Saudi Arabian ports and such activity may result in being targeted “in any location” by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi militia, according to an email sent to companies by the Houthis.

"Vessels are banned from loading or discharging cargo at or from any Saudi ports," the 20 July email said, which was received by multiple shipping companies.

"We strongly recommend that your company exercise due diligence and the utmost care in all its dealings,” according to the email, which was sent to the multiple companies in the industry and seen by Reuters.

"Any such activity would expose the violating vessels to sanctions. Furthermore, they may be subject to targeting in any location within the operational reach of the Yemeni Armed Forces," according to the email, which was sent by the Houthis' Sanaa-based Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center. 

An Iranian military source said in an interview with the Iranian Fars agency, that the status of the Strait of Hormuz "will not witness any change", stressing that it will remain closed to shipping traffic.

The source added that "no permits will be issued for ships and tankers to pass through this corridor" under the current circumstances, claiming that the Iranian armed forces have full control over the strait.

The source pointed out that any future decisions related to opening the Strait or lifting the restrictions imposed on it "will be subject exclusively to Iranian security requirements and national interests," noting that this situation will continue as long as US military threats and activities remain in the region.

The source held the United States fully responsible for the disturbances in the security of international navigation, considering that the "escalatory policies and military movements" adopted by Washington are the direct cause of the threat to the security and stability of the region.

Iranian official begins meeting with mediators in Pakistan as an interim deal with the US is unraveling.

Bahrain on Tuesday sounded sirens after the country's military had said it intercepted Iranian attacks, nearly two weeks into the resumption of US-Iran hostilities that have included daily attacks on the Gulf kingdom.

"The siren has been sounded, Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place," the interior ministry said in a statement on X.

Far-right fundamentalist, Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich said at a conference in Yad Binyamin in central Israel: "Right now, the state of Israel has no interest in joining the campaign. The current situation is good for us, and we have no interest in pushing ourselves into it. We are prepared for any scenario."

Lebanon's National News Agency reported Israel is conducting a large bombing campaign in the town of Kfar Tebnit, located in the southeast of Nabatieh.

The Jordanian military announced on Tuesday it had intercepted five Iranian drones, the latest attack by the Islamic Republic on countries in the region following the resumption of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards confirmed the attack, claiming in a statement that they had targeted a "complex housing US terrorist forces in the region of Rukban".

Philippine Foreign Minister Maria Teresa Lazaro announced on Tuesday that the foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will issue a statement regarding the US-Israeli war on Iran, after they expressed deep concern about developments.

Lazaro's statements to reporters came after she chaired a closed meeting in Manila with her counterparts from other countries

An Israeli airstrike on Tuesday killed a father, his wife, and their four children in Gaza City, while setting their home ablaze, health officials said.

Medics said the Israeli strike on the family house in the Sabra neighbourhood killed the man, Firas Al-Masri, his wife, Salsabeel, and their three daughters and son.

The deaths swell a toll of more than 1,150 Palestinians, mostly civilians, killed by Israeli attacks since an October 2025 'ceasefire' took effect.

Joseph Aoun's landmark meeting with Trump comes as Lebanon and Israel continue to hold rare direct talks mediated by Washington. Lebanon hopes they will result in Israeli troops withdrawing from large swaths of southern Lebanon that they currently occupy, and for the Lebanese military to receive support to assert full control in areas where Hezbollah militants had held sway.

Goldman Sachs warned that the price of Brent crude will likely exceed $120 per barrel during the last quarter of this year, and will likely average about $100 per barrel in 2027, if supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz continue, and Gulf countries’ production does not fully recover before the end of 2027.

The Israeli military is quietly but quickly building a giant earthen barrier separating over 50% of the Gaza Strip it controls from the rest of the territory, according to satellite imagery, further entrenching the division of the tiny Palestinian enclave.

More than 23 kilometers (14 miles) have been constructed in recent months, running through Palestinian communities demolished by the military. That is equivalent to more than half the length of the besieged coastal strip, which is some 40 kilometers (25 miles) long and 11 kilometers (7 miles) wide, and home to over 2 million Palestinians.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they targeted infrastructure belonging to US company Amazon in Bahrain, according to a statement published by state media on Tuesday.

There was no official confirmation from Bahrain. Reuters could not independently verify the incident.
