Israeli forces killed scores of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip at dawn on Monday, targeting desperate residents gathering to collect aid at relief distribution points, as well as at other locations in the war-hit enclave.

At least two Palestinians were killed and 35 others injured after Israeli forces fired at a group waiting at an aid distribution point on Salah al-Din Street, south of Wadi Gaza.

At least 16 of those critically wounded were shot at and have been transferred to hospitals in central Gaza for medical treatment, medical staff from the Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat said, as cited by the Palestinian Wafa agency.

A number of Palestinians were also killed after the Israeli military opened fire on people waiting to collect humanitarian relief in the Shakoush area, northwest of Rafah.

Israeli forces also killed a Palestinian after a helicopter bombed a house in the Deir al-Balah camp.

Wafa also said that Israeli drones had targeted tents housing the displaced in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis, on Monday, killing and wounding several others.

Videos published by Arabic-language media showed rescue workers and civilians attempting to search for loved ones amid rubble.

Another video showed the aftermath of the Israeli drone’s strike on the camp. Tents were visibly destroyed, and belongings were scattered. Residents also pointed to rocket debris, saying that such weaponry is capable of killing dozens.

The camp’s residents were also seen attempting to clear away any remains of Israel’s drones.

The death toll for Monday's incidents is expected to rise.

Amid Israel’s current conflict with Iran, Tel Aviv has continued to strike Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, especially those waiting in aid distribution points.

As of Saturday, over 400 Palestinians have been killed in such areas since late May, chiefly in areas in and around Rafah and Khan Younis.

The killings have been interpreted as a clear pattern carried out by Israeli forces targeting Gaza’s most vulnerable. It has also triggered a wave of criticism at the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the organisation behind most aid distribution points.

Survivors have decried these points as "death traps," while the Center for Constitutional Rights has reportedly sent a legal notice to GHF for potential complicity in war crimes and aiding genocidal actions against Palestinians.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Palestine called on parliaments around the world to take urgent action to halt the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and to increase the flow of aid to Palestinians in the war-hit enclave.

This came in a distress call addressed by Rawhi Fattouh, Speaker of the Palestinian National Council, to parliaments around the world, including European, Arab, African and other global counterparts.

Fattouh said: "As Speaker of the Palestinian National Council, and as a citizen of the city of Rafah, which has been wiped out, I appeal to you to stand with pride, dignity, and humanity. I demand that you pass emergency legislation to save the lives of children, the elderly, and women who are dying of hunger, disease, cold, and heat."

"The Gaza Strip is witnessing unprecedented humanitarian conditions, including mass deaths from bombing, hunger, thirst, displacement, lack of treatment, and the complete collapse of the health system."

He also said that food distribution centres such as the GHF "have become direct targets for killing".

As of Sunday, 55,959 have been killed by Israel since the start of its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, which has been labelled as a genocide by several global leaders, experts and UN agencies.
