Gaza’s health authorities announced on Thursday that 54 Palestinians- including four whose bodies were recovered- and 831 injured people were brought to hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, amid a sharp rise in starvation and malnutrition in the devastated territory.
According to the authorities, the death toll from Israel’s ongoing assault has reached 61,776, with 154,906 wounded since the start of the war on Gaza on 7 October 2023.
In the latest update on Thursday, israel's deliberate starvation of Gaza has also claimed another four Palestinians.
The newly-announced deaths from starvation come after eight died yesterday, meaning the total number of dead stands at 239 people, including 106 children. The toll comes as Israeli attacks on Gaza on Wednesday killed over 100 people.
The death toll comes amid continued international outrage at the aid situation in Gaza, with 100 aid organisations, led by the Norwegian Refugee Council, calling for "an end to Israel's weaponisation of aid".
In the occupied West Bank, Israel continues to consolidate its creeping annexation of the territory, with far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announcing on Wednesday plans to build 3,000 new homes as part of the E1 settlement project east of occupied East Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have continued raids, arresting five Palestinians in the occupied city of Qalqiya, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.
