Five Palestinians have starved to death in the past 24 hours as Israel plans to expand the operations of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
Included in the five is a child from Khan Younis who died of malnutrition, according to Al Jazeera, citing officials in the Nasser Hospital. The deaths bring the total number of people who have starved to 193.
Meanwhile, nine Palestinians were reportedly killed by Israeli fire while waiting for aid, with five being killed in the southern city of Rafah, and four in central Gaza, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The continued starvation and international backlash have prompted a new effort to scale up the number of aid distribution sites under the GHF to 16 from the current 4 sites, according to US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.
Alongside the doubling down of the use of the GHF as an aid mechanism, Netanyahu is considering a full occupation of the enclave, even as the families of Israeli captives warn against a further escalation.
