Six Palestinians were injured on Monday after Israeli forces raided the Aqbat Jabr camp near the city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank, medics said.

Local sources told The New Arab's Arabic-language sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that fighting erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters.

The Israeli army sent reinforcements to the camp after surrounding a house, the sources said.

Nasser Al-Anani, the director of the Jericho hospital later  said six Palestinians including a child were injured.

It comes after another Israeli raid on Aqbat Jabr killed five Palestinians last month.

Also on Monday, Israel arrested 12 Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Israeli forces have also continued to besiege Hawara in the northern West Bank for the third day in a row.

This came after a shooting wounded three Israeli soldiers in Hawara on Saturday.

Israeli settlers set agricultural fields belonging to the town ablaze on Sunday evening, though residents were able to extinguish the fire, said Ghassan Daghlas, a local Palestinian official in charge of monitoring settlement activity.

Hawara was the scene of what an Israeli commander said was a "pogrom" last month, following the killing of two Israelis.

The attack saw homes and vehicles torched, with one Palestinian killed in a nearby town.

This year has seen an uptick in violence against Palestinians, with 90 killed so far by Israeli forces and settlers – an average of more than one per day.

More than 700,000 settlers reside in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Israeli settlements in the West Bank are considered illegal under international law and are seen as a major obstacle to peace.
