Popular Egyptian singer Mohammed Ramadan has raised eyebrows following the announcement of a surprise collaboration with US President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.

The pair have joined forces on a new single titled ‘Sah Sah,’ sparking a wave of controversy and mixed opinions.

The pop song combines Egyptian lyrics and imagery with American references, creating a juxtaposition which has been applauded by some as an example of multiculturalism and denounced by others as unusual and distasteful.

The song’s artwork features the iconic pyramids of Giza beside the Statue of Liberty.

Online, people and reports have called the dancing in promotional videos posted of the single "cringe".

Reports also state the music video for the song was filmed at the Trump National Golf Club Jupiter in Florida.

The collaboration comes as US President Donald Trump has faced scathing criticism from around the Middle East for his support of Israel in its war on Gaza, as well as threats against Iran.

Since August, Ramadan has been using social media to post several photos of Lara and other members of the Trump family.

One social media user called the collaboration "dystopian" while another called it an "abomination".

Lara, has reportedly been dabbling in music as a creative outlet and has previously collaborated with Moroccan-American rapper French Montana on a song.

"I was excited to collaborate with Mohamed and love how light and upbeat our new song turned out... I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed collaborating on it," she told reporters.

She has also come under fire in recent weeks for voicing her controversial political opinions online, including an interview where she said New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will "continue to drive people out" from the city due to his calls to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a recent Instagram post, she also said the left are trying to score political points in the US, adding "they don’t miss an opportunity… they know there’s nothing more upsetting to a parent — or really anyone — than a child in distress".

The comments refer to ICE detaining a 5-year-old boy named Liam Ramos in Minneapolis earlier this month.

Ramadan, too, has been lambasted previously after he posed with an Israeli pop star in 2020. The photo of him with his arm around Omer Adam in Dubai prompted Egypt’s Theatrical Professions Syndicate to suspend him and launch an investigation.

Ramadan told reporters the idea behind the music collaboration was Lara’s idea.

"I had absolutely no reservations at all, and I don’t get involved in politics. I’m an artist, and I genuinely admire Lara’s art and her voice,” he told the Examiner.

"We were brought together by the song — and even if she weren’t from the Trump family, I still would have made this song with her."
