Egypt's Omar Marmoush set to join Tottenham as first part of deal 'completed'

Tottenham Hotspur has verbally agreed with Manchester City to sign Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, in a move that could provide a major opportunity for him to establish himself at the club.

The deal will see the player join on a season-long loan, with a £50 million purchase option that will become compulsory if certain conditions are met.

Roberto De Zerbi, the head coach of Tottenham, was pressed this week about the transfer, but told reporters: "I don't know. It's not right to talk about the players in other teams.”

"It's a crazy market. We are working very well in the transfer market. I don't know if some player leaves or some people joins,” he continued.

However, reports say Tottenham has already agreed on some personal terms, which the 27-year-old accepted several days ago.

Marmoush is now set to travel to London as early as Monday for a medical with the club.

The transfer means Manchester City has taken a loss on Marmoush, whose contract was due to expire in 2029.

While many commentators have noted that Marmoush is set against fierce competition at his prospective new club, he has made a name for himself at Manchester City, registering 16 goals and six assists in 62 appearances across all competitions.

Last week, reports said the Egypt international had been given the green light to make the potential move to north London.

Marmoush joined Manchester City in January 2025 after moving from Eintracht Frankfurt for around  £59 million.

He was also part of the Egyptian national team at the World Cup this year, which broke records as the team reached round 16, the furthest they have ever reached.

If the deal is complete, Marmoush will become the third Egyptian to represent Tottenham, following Mido (2005-07) and Hossam Ghaly (2006-09).
