Egypt court adds 15 people to terror list over Muslim Brotherhood links
A court in Egypt has decided to designate 15 people to a terror list for five years because of their ties to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood movement.
The five-year term began on 4 December when the Cairo Criminal Court issued the ruling.
The individuals include the former spokesman for the Egyptian health ministry Yahya al-Sayyed Musa, activist and former media spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood Jihad Issam al-Haddad, and former MP Ali al-Sayyed Batikh.
The court ruling comes just days after hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood members were removed from the terrorist list in Egypt.
Cairo legalised the Muslim Brotherhood in 2011 following the revolution, but banned it again in September 2013, months after a military coup ousted the country’s first democratically elected president, the late Mohamed Morsi, who was from the group.
Following the 2013 coup, thousands of Muslim Brotherhood members and other opposition figures fled Egypt, finding refuge in countries like Turkey, as many were offered Turkish citizenship or residency.
