The Israeli military issued evacuation orders on Sunday in areas of central Gaza packed with displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah, while medics said 94 people were killed waiting for aid as hunger mounts.

The military evacuation demand signals an imminent attack on neighbourhoods in the area.

The ministry said dozens of people were also wounded in the incident in northern Gaza, in one of the highest reported tolls among repeated recent cases in which aid seekers have been killed. Other people were killed near another aid site in the south, it said.

In total, health authorities said 88 people had been killed by Israeli gunfire and airstrikes across Gaza on Sunday.

After Israel's military dropped leaflets urging people to evacuate Deir al-Balah's neighbourhoods, residents said Israeli planes struck three houses in the area.

Dozens of families began leaving their homes, carrying some of their belongings. Hundreds of thousands of displaced Gazans have been sheltering in the Deir al-Balah area.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Sunday said he had ordered the withdrawal of a senior UN humanitarian official's residency permit, accusing him of spreading lies about the war in Gaza.

"I have instructed not to extend the residency permit of the head of the OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) office in Israel, Jonathan Whittall," Saar wrote on X.

Whittall, a South African who lives in Jerusalem and frequently visits the Gaza Strip, has repeatedly condemned the humanitarian conditions for the more than two million people living in the Palestinian territory.

In April, he said that Gazans were "slowly dying" due to the effects of Israel's war.

Saar's decision, which he said came after "biased and hostile conduct against Israel which distorted reality" and broke UN neutrality rules, is the latest taken against senior UN officials.

The protest in the British capital on Saturday during the curtain call came on the closing night of an 11-night run of Il Trovatore, a four-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi.

"Extraordinary scenes at the Royal Opera House tonight," a person who claimed to have been in the audience posted on X.

"Using starvation as a weapon of war is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law," he said, calling on world leaders, parliaments, the UN, academics, and influencers to take urgent action.

The first humanitarian aid convoy entered the southern Syrian city of Suweida on Sunday, a Red Crescent official said, a week after deadly sectarian violence erupted in the Druze heartland.

A fragile ceasefire appeared to be holding after Druze fighters retook control of Suweida city and government security forces deployed to the province, following violence since last Sunday that has killed more than 1,000 people, according to a monitor.

An AFP correspondent near Suweida city saw a convoy including trucks and ambulances bearing the Red Crescent symbol heading towards the city.

"It's the first convoy to enter after the recent events, and it has arrived and is now inside Suweida," said Syrian Red Crescent media and communications official Omar al-Malki.

He told AFP the convoy would be followed by others and said it came "in coordination with the government bodies and the local authorities in Suweida", which are controlled by the Druze.

The convoy of 32 vehicles was carrying basics including food, medical and fuel supplies as well as body bags, Malki said.

Residents of Suweida have been holed up in their homes without electricity and water, and food supplies have been scarce.

Sharaa will "carefully examine the findings... to ensure steps are taken to advance the principles of truth, justice and accountability, and prevent the recurrence of violations" as part of building a new Syria, the statement said.

He asked the committee to hold a press conference to present its findings as soon as possible "if it seems appropriate", the statement added, without releasing any details of the report.

The presidency's announcement came after Sharaa a day earlier renewed his pledge to protect minorities amid violence in the Druze-majority province of Suweida which has killed over a 1,000 people since last Sunday, according to the Observatory.
