International Women's Day 2021: Special Coverage
All around the world, the past year has hit women and girls disproportionately harder.
In the Middle East and the wider community of nations, the pandemic has made worse every aspect of gender inequality, from employment and pay equality to domestic violence, childcare and education, and from healthcare to equal access to justice.
But it’s not all bad news, as grim as the situation remains. Women have been at the forefront of protest movements and campaigns to reform personal status law that severely prejudice their natural rights.
Women, led by healthcare and frontline workers, have been at the forefront of the response to Covid-19 and other crises.
