Carlos Lopes is a former UN under-secretary-general and former executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, is an honorary professor at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town, a visiting professor at Sciences Po, and the African Union’s High Representative for Relations with Europe. He is the author of The Self-Deception Trap: Exploring the Economic Dimensions of Charity Dependency within Africa-Europe Relations (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024).
Laurence Tubiana is former French ambassador to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, is CEO of the European Climate Foundation and a professor at the École Normale Supérieure.
